All Day Ossian Giant Gravel Grinder   OSSIAN GIANT AT SWAIN TO HOST 100S OF GRAVEL RACERS INCLUDING TOP NATIONAL PROS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Tony Sylor, Race Director 716.307.5753 SWAIN - The Ossian Giant Gravel Grinder on 4/14 and 4/15 at Swain Resort is set to host hundreds of cyclist as they come from all over the US and Canada to compete on the dirt roads around Swain, NY for one of the most unique cycling events on the East Coast. Currently on the Elite race Start List we are excited to welcome 4X Professional National Champion, and one of the greatest American racers in the history of cycling, Jeremy Powers. Powers will be joined by fellow professional Anthony Clark who is one of the top ranked American cyclists in the world as well as retired professionals Dan Timmerman and Mike Jones, current junior National Champion and rising start Magnus Sheffield (15 years old), and a number other top elite amateurs. “I am thrilled to bring this kind of talent to our races,” said Race Director Tony Sylor. “These guys are truly the best in the country and among the best in the world.” The professionals and elite amateurs will rac a grueling 55-mile course made up of dirt, seasonal use and paved roads, pushing even the best athletes to their limits. Prior to the Elite races, amateurs of all abilities will race either 35 or 20 miles of gravel fun where they will challenge some of the same features as the elite riders. Those riders will then have the option to jump on a bus and follow the excitement of the Elite Races in our roving party wagons and/or get a bite at our post-ride party at Swain. “Gravel racing is the fastest growing part of the sport,” said Sylor. “It’s a big party where some riders come to compete against others, some come to test themselves, and some come for the party.” The event expects around 300 athletes on Saturday and then will host a small non-competitive group ride on Sunday to raise money for a local youth cycling camp. Sunday’s ride will also include breakfast and dinner with Powers, Clark, and Timmerman. The ride will take the dirt roads out to tour Pollywogg Holler.
